🔍 Overview

Bandarpunch Peak, located in the Garhwal Himalayas within the Govind Pashu Vihar National Park, is a snow-covered giant standing at 6,316 meters. The name “Bandarpunch” means Monkey’s Tail and is linked to the mythological tale of Lord Hanuman extinguishing his burning tail here. This climb is a mix of high-altitude trekking, glacier navigation, and technical mountaineering, making it perfect for those preparing for higher Himalayan expeditions.

📅 Day-Wise Itinerary & Description

🗓️ Day 1: Arrival in Sankri (1,920 m)

  • Drive from Dehradun to Sankri

  • Scenic Himalayan villages en route

  • Overnight in a guesthouse


🗓️ Day 2: Drive to Taluka, Trek to Seema (2,560 m)

  • 1-hour jeep ride to Taluka

  • 14 km trek along Supin River

  • Lush forests, waterfalls, & bridges


🗓️ Day 3: Trek to Ruinsara Tal (3,500 m)

  • Moderate ascent through alpine meadows

  • Glimpses of Black Peak & Bandarpunch range

  • Camp near pristine Ruinsara Lake


🗓️ Day 4: Acclimatization at Ruinsara Tal

  • Light hikes, rope handling demo, ice/snow practice

  • Perfect for altitude adaptation


🗓️ Day 5: Trek to Bandarpunch Base Camp (4,100 m)

  • Cross moraine, boulder fields & ice sections

  • Establish base with views of Swargarohini & Kalanag


🗓️ Day 6: Load Ferry to Advance Camp (4,900 m)

  • Carry gear, food, technical equipment

  • Return to base camp for the night


🗓️ Day 7: Shift to Advance Camp

  • Acclimatize & sleep high

  • Prepare for summit push


🗓️ Day 8: Summit Push (6,316 m) & Return

  • Pre-dawn alpine start

  • Steep snowfields, crevasses, and ridge sections

  • Reach the summit of Bandarpunch, with views of Kalanag, Swargarohini, and Yamunotri peaks

  • Return to Camp


🗓️ Day 9: Reserve/Contingency Day


🗓️ Day 10–12: Trek Back to Sankri via Ruinsara & Seema


🗓️ Day 13: Return Drive to Dehradun
